The main difference between the SHBM-150MI manipulator and other manipulators is the intelligent cargo dewatering system. This system determines the weight of the cargo itself and compensates for it, making the cargo weightless. The vertical movement speed is controlled by the operator, who at the same time simply applies a slight vertical force (no more than 5-7.5 kg) to the suspension device or the load itself, When the control force is applied upwards, the load also begins to move upwards, when the force is applied downwards, the load also begins to move downwards. The speed of movement of the load depends on the applied effort, but can not be more than the maximum. In the absence of control action on the part of the operator, the load is stationary and is held by the lifting mechanism for as long as necessary. The lever system of the manipulator boom is balanced by means of a spring device and is designed so that the movement of the suspension device in the radial direction to and from the pivot device occurs horizontally (using the mechanism of the hinge-lever pantograph). The electric drive of the lifting mechanism of the manipulator head is made on a modern element base with the use of a gear motor with an electromagnetic brake and frequency conversion, which makes it possible to smoothly regulate the speed of vertical movements and guarantees reliable operation.

The manipulator is equipped with a light indication of the operating modes of the frequency converter, the overload of the manipulator, the inclusion of the load weighing mode, plugging into the network. To ensure safety, the manipulator is equipped with an "Accident" button placed on the arm, not far from the suspension device. When pressing the button, the load stops at the height at which it is at the moment of pressing the button.
